This unique printable game is a way to get kindergarteners or first graders actively practicing two types of sentences and their end punctuation:
- asking sentences — interrogative — question marks
- telling sentences — declarative — periods
Included is a double-sided sign and 50 sentence cards in two styles — with and without end punctuation (total of 100 cards). Give each child a sign, and hold up one card at a time, reading the sentence. Have each child silently hold up their sign with the side facing you that shows whether they think it is an asking or a telling sentence — and needs a question mark or a period. Choose a different child each time to explain their choice.
The cards may also be used alone as flashcards, or print both sets and match the two versions of the sentences — with and without end punctuation.
